Steel Export Quotation Checklist: What Buyers Should Send

A complete request for quotation makes it easier to compare steel offers. Start with a line-by-line product schedule rather than a general request for the lowest price.
1. Identify the material
For every line item, state the product category, governing standard, grade and required delivery condition. If the specification comes from a project drawing, include the relevant revision and clarify whether alternatives can be considered.
2. Define dimensions and quantities
For coils, include thickness, width and coil handling limits. For plates, give thickness, width and length. For pipes, include outside diameter, wall thickness and length. For beams, angles and channels, use the exact profile designation or a dimensioned drawing. State the quantity for each size and the units used.
3. List inspection and documentation
Identify required tests, marking, traceability and inspection documents before asking for a price. Do not assume that every quote includes the same documents or inspection arrangements.
4. Confirm logistics
Provide the delivery destination, preferred shipment timing and packing instructions. Ask the supplier to state the delivery term and named place, what costs are included, and any conditions affecting the schedule.
5. Compare the full offer
Check the offered material, quantity basis, payment terms, quote validity and delivery commitments against your enquiry. Resolve differences in writing before ordering. Send your completed requirement to Shanghai Qijian for review.
