The default structural hot rolled grade in China

Q235B (GB/T 700) is the Chinese carbon structural steel used across construction, pipe making and general fabrication — the grade behind most steel structures sourced from China. We supply 1.5–25.4 mm hot rolled coil and strip from Shanghai mills.

Q235B vs SS400 vs S235JR

These three grades overlap heavily and are commonly substituted. Q235B carries a guaranteed impact test at room temperature (the B), SS400 does not require impact testing, S235JR tests at +20 °C. If your end market needs European documents, ask us for S235JR instead; otherwise Q235B is usually the most economical route.
